Equal Opportunity Grant from TruLocal

A few weeks ago, TruLocal offered a $10K, equal opportunity grant for Canadian small businesses founded by black individuals. In an update today they announced the grant has doubled!

As a Black-owned and led business, we feel it’s more important now than ever to stand up against injustice, and use our platform and resources to help elevate Black individuals and communities. A week and a half ago, we announced the $10,000 truLOCAL Equal Opportunity Grant, to provide two $5000 grants to small Black-owned businesses to help them grow and thrive.

This week, we got some exciting news. Our friends at Shipper Bee loved the idea – and they committed to matching our contribution. The truLOCAL Equal Opportunity Business Grant now has $20,000 to invest in four $5000 business grants to Black founders.

We couldn’t be more thrilled to create this incredible equal opportunity grant for Black small business owners – we know we couldn’t have gotten to where we are today if we hadn’t received support from our friends, families, customers, and communities. Sound like you? Applications are open until June 26th! If you know any Black-owned businesses or Black founders who might benefit from one of these grants, please share the good news with them.

Buy Local, Support Small Business

As a small business owner myself, I am all for supporting and promoting local entrepreneurs. When you buy local, from growers, artisans, or crafters alike, you are investing in the economy of your own community. That’s healthier on so many levels.

TruLOCAL is such a business delivering their local meat products anywhere in Ontario. TruLocal: Customized Meat Delivery Service

Recently I have become acquainted with the TruLocal program that sells local, organic meat delivered (fast and free) to your Ontario home. I first heard of it on Dragon’s Den, then was reminded of it when I saw an ad on Facebook. The meat contains no hormones and no antibiotics. Unlike other companies that offer home delivery of grocery items, you select only the meat you want (will use). I tried other food services years ago but found I was always forced to add items I did not want to my package.

Using a point value system, TruLocal lets you customize your order with a total of 20 points per box. Each item is individually wrapped, the meat is packed in a Styrofoam box and shipped in dry ice via FedEx right to your door, usually the very next day.

There are lots of cuts and kinds of meat to choose from including chicken, turkey, beef, salmon and more…
